Below, we have provided information about the two medications for hair loss that we prescribe at Supernormal.
How the medication works: Finasteride counteracts hair loss by blocking the negative effects of testosterone on the hair follicles. It is usually noted that the effects are most noticeable after approximately 6 months. It may occur earlier, but patience is key here. After around 12-18 months, the full effects of the medication can be evaluated.
Important! The first two months may involve an initial acceleration of hair loss before it starts to improve. This is completely normal and will diminish within a couple of weeks. If it does not subside within two months, you should discontinue the treatment and consult your doctor.
Instructions for use: Take one tablet per day (taking more does not make a difference in hair loss). It can be taken with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole and should not be divided or crushed.
Important points to consider:
If you stop using the medication, the effects will cease as well. This means that your hair will gradually return to its pre-treatment state if you discontinue use.
This treatment should not be used by women or individuals under 18 years of age.
If you experience involuntary infertility, you should discontinue the treatment and consult your doctor.
Contact your doctor at Supernormal if:
You feel more depressed and sad during the treatment.
You notice changes in breast tissue, such as lumps or pain, during the treatment.
You experience a loss of libido or erectile dysfunction during the treatment.
Important! If any of the above applies to you, besides contacting your doctor, you should also discontinue the treatment until your doctor provides you with further instructions.
How the medication works: Minoxidil maximizes the growth phase of hair follicles. It does this by extending the growth phase, increasing stimulation of hair growth during the active growth phase, and even activating dormant hair follicles to enter the growth phase. The result is thicker hair strands, further reduction of hair loss, and the potential for more active hair follicles releasing more hair. Visible effects are usually seen after a minimum of 2-4 months and typically after approximately 6 months, so please be patient.
Instructions for use: Apply 1 ml of the solution both in the morning and evening to the area of the scalp that requires treatment (regardless of the size of the area). Then, gently massage the solution into the scalp using your fingertips. Remember to wash your hands afterwards!
Important! Some individuals may experience increased hair loss during the first two months. This is completely normal and will diminish within a couple of weeks. If the hair loss does not stop, you should discontinue the treatment and consult your doctor.
Important points to consider:
The hair and scalp must be dry when applying Minoxidil. Do not use other hair products simultaneously.
Thoroughly wash your hands after use and avoid contact with the eyes.
Minoxidil can cause unwanted hair growth if it comes into contact with other areas of the skin.
Do not use Minoxidil if you have ongoing redness, pain, or sores on the scalp.
Applying more than 1 ml or more frequently than in the morning and evening will not make a difference. If you forget to apply Minoxidil on one or more occasions, you can simply resume treatment at the next opportunity and continue as usual.
If you stop using the medication, the effects will cease as well. This means that your hair will gradually return to its pre-treatment state if you discontinue use.
If no effect is observed after 8 months, discontinue the treatment.
Contact your doctor if:
You experience prolonged headaches or dizziness during the treatment.
Your scalp becomes irritated from the treatment.
You experience any other side effects during the ongoing treatment.
