What is CheckUp?

Checkup is a test for general health, measuring and evaluating a carefully compiled combination of biomarkers especially of interest for male health.

Why test general health?

Testing your general health can give you a deeper understanding of how your body functions, which risk factors you may possess for various conditions and track progress of lifestyle changes.

What is included in the Checkup?

The Checkup includes the following biomarkers:

Hb, LPK, TPK, EPK, EVF, MCH, MCV, Glucose, HbA1c, C-peptide, Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, LDL/HDL ratio, Triglycerides, ApoA, ApoB, Apo ratio, Creatinine, eGFR, Cystatin C, Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Chloride, Phosphate, Albumin, ASAT, ALAT, ALP, G-GT, TSH, T4, Iron, Magnesium, Ferritin, Transferrin, Iron saturation, LH, FSH, Estradiol (estrogen), Progesterone, SHBG, Bioactive testosterone, Total testosterone, Total PSA, Free PSA, PSA ratio, Vitamin B12, Homocysteine, Folate, Vitamin D, CRP, SR, Cortisol

Why does Checkup look like it does?

The biomarkers in Checkup have been carefully selected to balance the benefits versus risks with taking blood tests in a preventive and precedent manner. The included biomarkers in Checkup frames almost all the major combinations of biomarkers included in the tests taken when investigating and evaluating the most common conditions and symptoms in men.*

Why take the Checkup test?

In Sweden, preventative interventions to decrease the risk of developing medical conditions and diseases are in the starting pits. Although science clearly believes that preventative measures hold the key to future health care systems, many areas of medicine have not yet established preventative processes on a populational scale. Sometimes, it is due to cost effectiveness in the overall health care system, and sometimes it is considered not being substantiated enough with research to back up such preventative actions.

We at Supernormal have gone through thousands of articles on topics concerning men’s health. We definitely don’t have all the answers, but the future for men’s health is preventive, it is active and it is supernormal.

Who should test their general health?

Anyone interested in starting their journey towards a deeper understanding of their body or starting a journey towards a healthier self.

What are the strengths and weaknesses with Checkup?

Like all tests, even though we collaborate with some of the most prominent laboratories and actors on the market, there will always be strengths and weaknesses with all testing. If someone tells you otherwise, we recommend you go find someone else that you can trust.

Below we have listed some of the main strengths and weaknesses with the Checkup:

Strengths:

Early detection

Blood tests in general can help detect many diseases at an early stage as well as side effects. This allows for early changes in treatment and less risk for complications and development of severe diseases. Not only does this mean the world for the affected patient, resulting in an increased quality of life, but it also saves the healthcare system resources and money. A win win really.

Accurate diagnosis

Blood tests can provide an accurate diagnosis of several medical conditions, such as infections, autoimmune disorders and various types of cancer.

Monitor treatment

Blood tests can help monitor effectiveness of treatment and help healthcare providers adjust doses accordingly

Comprehensive information

Blood tests can provide an easily understood overall picture of a patient’s health status.

Cost effective

Blood tests are often less expensive than other diagnostic tools, making them one of the more cost-effective options for both healthcare providers and patients.

Weaknesses:

False positives and false negatives

Blood tests can sometimes give inaccurate results, so-called false positives or false negatives. This can happen for various reasons, such as errors in the testing process or reactions between substances in the blood

Limited specificity

Test results can often help reveal abnormalities in certain biomarkers, but it doesn’t necessarily give you the entire picture to explain the underlying cause of the results. Other tests such as physical examinations and imaging tests may be necessary to make a definitive diagnosis.

Invasiveness

Blood tests do require a needle to be inserted into your blood vessel to retrieve blood for analysis. Meaning that although blood tests are generally considered safe, it doesn’t take away the possible uncomfort and pain it may cause.

Important note: Despite the weaknesses, blood tests are still very much useful and play an essential role in the health care system and is a vital tool when identifying and diagnosing medical conditions today. We believe that the future holds technology that won’t need a syringe and a needle, and rest assured that we will be the first adopters of that technique when it is invented.
